    what's your "The One"?

I own a cv50s tele which I swapped the neck pickup out for a Seymour Duncan p90 and the neck for an all parts maple/rosewood slab board neck. This was the first telecaster I bought and had reigned #1 till my last acquisition. I also own a cv '69 thinline. It was my first partcaster. The neck...

History of sunburst Telecasters and Esquires

Yep and a road worn body. I feel like I lucked out. Everything fitted nice and snug and it sounds wonderful. I will admitted though that my first preference was an ash body, but only so it could identify closer to a 58 tele. I don't really know if they had alder body sunburst teles matched to...

History of sunburst Telecasters and Esquires

I'm loving the pics. Here's my number 1 before being assembled. I still want a double bound one though.

Feeling unprepared to play in public

I thank all you for your responses. They're really helpful and I'm starting to look forward to the next time I'm asked to join in a jam.

Feeling unprepared to play in public

I think that's the hard part certain gospel songs especially newer songs. I think most old time songs could basically be played like a 12bar blues progression but the new stuff has so many jazz, country, neo soul, and funk attributes mixed in that its hard to know where the song is going...

Feeling unprepared to play in public

Thanks supersoldier71. Where do you get your drum tracks from? I've tried looking on YouTube but most also have bass guitar with it. Which I know could help my ear training, but throws me off because instead of just focusing on the rhythm I'm also having to figure out the chord changes which I'm...

Haha. Thanks for the advice... I do see myself being more support than out front and flashy. But I guess flashy is fun at times.

Feeling unprepared to play in public

I got it! So I guess what I was doing wrong was instead of hearing the song as is I was trying to turn it into what I thought it should be in my head. I wasnt hearing the six beats on the 1. Instead I kept thinking my counts were off and I wasn't counting fast or slow enough and I kept trying to...

I do. The funny thing is I have two cousins I could go to but one over explains and gives so much information that it becomes confusing and the other doesnt really give enough information lol.

Feeling unprepared to play in public

Question. When I listen, I can hear the tension leading to the 5 chord and the 5 chord wanting to resolving but I'm having a little trouble figuring out where the bars are divided. Is the 1 being played for four bars while the 4 and 5 are played once and just held for four bars?

Feeling unprepared to play in public

Thanks so much. The funny thing is I had borrowed a couple of gospel cds to practice figuring out the key and chord progressions. On one song I was listening to, I played along with single note lines trying to figure out the key but never really felt confident that it was the right key. A few...

Feeling unprepared to play in public

I feel like both our churches (my wife's and I) could really care less how bad someone sounded. My wife often jokes that her church is always off key because almost everyone sings in a different key even when their singing together lol. They're just happy to see people especially young people...

Thanks nocaster. Confidence is something I feel like I'm definitely lacking. I'm going to have to make sure I work more on what you suggested.

Feeling unprepared to play in public

Well honestly, I'd consider most of our services low key especially at my wife's church. For my church usually just family and close friends. As soon as the choir goes up to sing your only left with probably 15 or so folks in the congregation. My wife's church only has about 10 or 15 members...

Feeling unprepared to play in public

Thanks. That's one of the reasons that I wanted to learn how to play because I felt that there was probably a need for guitarist. Since most of the young folks that sung in the choir or played instruments moved off, my church now only has a bassist and drummer. The choir is pretty small now too...
