I've used and 'E' and a 'S' Megaswitch both with great success, solid feel and reliable.
I prefer Vox. What Mr Scallywag said makes sense to me.

I use a vertical board clamped alongside the length of the neck to keep the block straight and perpendicular. Really helped for me.
I use my Ampmaker SE5 kit in a home made 1 X 12 for duo gigs. Works great.
FWIW the ME-80 straight into PA last night worked but sounded disappointing compared to a clean guitar amp. It had some DI type fizzyness to it....
