I have some nice thick straps, but I usually just use the old-retro spaghetti straps.
Not really that comfortable, but they look cool and do the job. They also match the color of the guitar. I had to dye the blue and the orange straps to match my blue and orange guitars. I take this...
Don't laugh, but this is one of the greatest albums ever made:
You might know that '80s pop classic "Happy Birthday" from this band, but the album is a hell of a lot better than that. Pure pop. Perfect pop. And believe it or not, some great guitar playing on just about every song. Incredible...
Yeah, I caught them live and it was one of their drunken shambles shows. A mess. Funny for a few songs, then just maddening.
However, on record, those boys were really great. A fantastic rock band with a superb sense for pop. I can name so many of their songs that were so damn catchy and light...
Oh, OK, new rankings have just come in:
#67 - The Replacements
#68 - Oasis
#69 - The Kinks
Oasis beats them out simply on the basis of the song "Morning Glory"
If we were to rank Greatest Rock Bands Of All Time, The Kinks would slot in at #68. One spot ahead of Oasis, one spot behind The Replacements.
#67 - The Replacements
#68 - The Kinks
#69 - Oasis
They were a great, great band. At the time of their peak - "This Is The Sea" album - one could argue that they were thee best band on Earth.
Their albums were masterpieces and their live show was pure and raw. One of the greatest rock bands that ever existed.
And then they went all travelling...
If I hit Mega-Millions I would immediately find a George Barris-type guy who builds replicas of movie vehicles and I'd have him put together one of the trucks in the film SORCERER. Talk about a relic:
I've been playing The Beatles "Get Back" and The Cult's "She Sells Sanctuary" since 1990 and I still can't get a clean run through them. Think about that -- thirty two years playing those songs and I still fumble them every time.
The Pretenders - "Brass In Pocket"
Chrissie never goes anywhere without her Tele. You hear the song "Brass In Pocket" and you figure Telecaster with some chorus. Has to be. But then I come across this rehearsal footage. It isn't Chrissie with her Tele, it's James on a Gibson!
VOX AC30.
Dreamed and dreamed of owning one. Then got one...hated it. The darn thing was so not-user friendly. My version - the Custom Classic - has interactive treble/bass controls. Even Einstein couldn't figure out how to work those things. It took me months, really months to finally get a...
"Hotel California" - written by the fifth guitarist in the band.
Seriously, doesn't "Hotel California" end this thread? Nothing is going to beat that answer. Obscure member comes up with one of rock's most iconic tunes. (Yeah, I know the drummer wrote the lyrics, but the song is the music.)
Wow. I did not know that. I really love that song. Greatest guitar tone I've ever heard. Strange that you say such a kick ass guitar song was written not by the guitarists, but by the drummer.
