    1959 Les Paul Build

Dear Gil, there are a few questions, that i don't understand on some real burst. Maybe you know the answer. Look at this pickup-cavity on the Peter Green /Gary Moore /Kirk Hammet Burst. The upper side of the routed cavity shows the signs of red paint. The same reddish paint on the burst of...

Yeah, that's what i plan. Just finished my first left handed les paul. Maybe a late question, but Gil: the electric cavity of the original ones are like the mirror to the original 1959? Did they made left handed cavity cover plates? Anyway, the left handed pots, knobs and wiring are making...

The Bone looks a hears like a great guitar overall: love to luthierism pure. For my taste, the sound is more gretch, i hear parallel wiring ... am i right? Gil, You mentioned earlier, that you didn't use artifical UV aging anymore... but natural aged nitro. For me in europe, natural aging a...

I ordered some new alnico 5 magnets for winding pickups. They came magnetized to 32-35 Gauss. All of my PAF examples have 25-28 Gauss, a little weaker. I want to lower the Gauss rate some of the new alnico's from 22 to 30, to make a sound tests, how the Gauss rate effects the general...

    1959 Les Paul Build

Dear Gil, I've a new les paul build, and i've a question of the growth rings of the maple. After so many builds, do you ever noticed a tonal difference, between a quartersawn maple top, or a flatsawn top? Is there a tonal difference, how the growth rings follow the carving of the top? I...

What a great color, i like that very much. Gil, can you make a photo next time, how much blue do you add to the clear laquer, to break the brightness of the yellow? My lemon drop is just finished, but it's a little "orangy" or "honey-like" instead of your lemon drop.

Gil, this lemon drop is beatiful. I'm still on the search for the right dye. Just an info for anyone, who uses the LMI anilyne yellow: it tends to fade extremly. After 1-2 hours in direct sunlight, my lemon is mostly water clear :-) Before: After 2 hours in sunlight:

Anyway. Gil, your shop is definietly growing, the tools are much powerful and efficient. I'm in love with luthiery, but do you ever thinked investing to a CNC? My part-time room is only 2×3 m, but i thinking about investing in a Carvewright. It's pretty small, compact, and seems to affordabe...

    1959 Les Paul Build

Dear Gil and Everyone Since i have never had a chance to hold a real burst from 59 in my hand, i need some help to my current build. My question is the profile of the binding. The top of the binding could follow the top curve (A) or paralell with the mahogany bottom (B). For me, (A) looks...
