    Out of phase pickups

Thanks - how could you tell the white and blacks were reversed on your neck pickup? Did you have noise from that pickup?

    Out of phase pickups

I've searched the forums - but haven't found any reference to out of phase pickups from the factory. I have a 2020 AO 60's Thinline I bought used off of Reverb. The middle switch setting sounds like my pickups are out of phase. There is a huge volume drop and it looses all its low end...

NGD - American Original 60’s Thinline

Hmm - interestingly - it seems my pickups are wired out of phase. The middle setting is super thin and the volume drops way down. I don't see anything wired incorrectly - it just appears that one of the pickups has it's wires reversed. Weird!!! Is there a way to tell if a pickup's white and...

NGD - American Original 60’s Thinline

Do you know which nut to get? I was able to get the old one out easily - just need to replace it. I'm planning to re-shim it this week and if it works well, I'll use it for gigs and keep this one for studio work only for the time being.

NGD - American Original 60’s Thinline

Interesting… I was wondering about that. They don’t look like the Gotoh’s - but they do work fine. I actually bought compensated saddles from StewMac before the guitar got here and then saw that it already has them. I guess I’ll have to buy a solid body for my new saddles… *wish*

NGD - American Original 60’s Thinline

It’s been a long road to a Telecaster for me. My first one was from Wildwood in 2017. A fine looking 52 thinskin reissue. It looked great - super nice craftsmanship, and felt solid, but it never really played all that well for me. The neck didn’t feel great to me, and something about it just...

Hard to get a lower action on Player Strat - Any Ideas?

I just went through this exact issue with my Player Tele. I had to shim it. The shim I used was a StewMac one - .5 mm, and honestly, I think it could use the 1mm shim. The wide part of the shim goes toward the headstock, so that the angle of the nut goes up (out) relative to the body of the...

    Telecaster for at home play

I’m the rare person who received a dud of a MiM Player Tele. The neck angle was wrong, and I have spent a lot of time and money trying to figure it out. Finally ordered some shims, and hoping that will fix it, but in sleuthing out what the buzzing was all about, my luthier also noticed that the...

Fender Player Tele Neck Angle Issue

When I made the measurement, there was no shim. Then I put in a folded over paper, and placed it farthest from the body. That raised the strings. So I just need to get some StewMac shims and go that route. Thanks.

Fender Player Tele Neck Angle Issue

After a LOT of sleuthing and research, I believe that the issue with my player telecaster, is that the neck angle is incorrect. I am experiencing string buzz all the way up the neck from the first fret. It’s mostly on the 4th,5th and 6th strings. It’s not just a pleasant jangle - it is quite...

Player Tele Pickups - not hot?

OK - cool - thank you, I was definitely wondering if setting to Fender specs was perhaps not the best option. I'll dink with the pickup height. Not quite sure I understand the metal piece in the back of the pickup - do I do that by removing the pickup from the body and sticking it on the...

Player Tele Pickups - not hot?

If I were to go that route, what would I look for in your opinion? Fralin vintage hots? Bootstrap extra crispy? Are these in the range of what you're recommending?

Player Tele Pickups - not hot?

Hi - I bought a Fender Player Tele in August. I love the clean tone - through my Deluxe Reverb, my Princeton - it’s just awesome. Plays great too. But I have noticed that it doesn’t break up with my amps. Where I normally get nice breakup at around 3 or 4 on the volume knob, it just stays...
