Not as uncommon as some other models. For example, when this one came up for sale on the 'Bay, there was another one available on Reverb. So, they're around.
I always give "NGD" posts the "thumbs up," but I rarely comment.
I can't help myself in this thread, though. That Custom is one of the prettiest guitars I've seen in months. Congrats.
So, I had a NGD a few weeks ago:
I can't leave well enough alone, and I love trying out new pick-up brands and models. I've already got a couple of modded jazz boxes: an Epiphone Emperor with a Lollar humbucker-sized P-90 in the neck position and a humbucker-sized P-90 in the bridge; an...
I'm getting ready to build several different wiring harnesses for my Tele '72 Custom clone. I'm trying to find the right combo of caps in order to capture the "classic" tone of a '72 custom in the middle position. Here's the wiring diagram that I'm working with:
So, here's the simple...
Check out TrueFire. They have TONS of jazz guitar lessons for every level of musical ability. They even have a Jazz "Learning Path," which is a loosely organized curriculum with "Core Courses" that give you a framework, and "Electives" that give you the opportunity to dive deeper into specific...
I second the recommendation for MJT. I've built a few guitars with those guys, and they'll make exactly what you want.
I've always ordered my necks unfinished from Musikraft, and had them shipped to MJT for finishing. Musikraft can provide you with a neck that matches the specs of an original...

The bartender says, "Why the big pause?"
The bear: "I don't know. I've had them all my life."
I need another jazzbox like I need another hole in my head, but when this little gem popped up on the online auctions, I couldn't resist. I wonder how long the ole "but sweetheart, these never show up for sale left-handed" line will work before my wife grows wise . . . 😁
Ouch. I stand by my suggestion that you give CAGED a try, but I'm going to throw out another suggestion - ditch your teacher. We live in a brave new world, my brother, wherein you can get quality guitar lessons on Zoom from someone halfway around the world. There are just too many fantastic...
If it's blues, then I've got my Epi Sheraton (with Fralins. It's a beast!).
If it's jazz, I've either got my Eastman 503CE, my Epi De Luxe, or my Epi Emperor. I tend to cycle through those three pretty evenly.
But 99% of the time, I'm sitting in my recliner with my tele.
