You mean a "reflector plate" as i have heard it called? Is it so that theres a ferrous plate since the pickup chassis isn't?

About this resonant peak issue. Have you considered adding a steel WRHB baseplate? I'd be happy to send you one to try, and see if it helps yield the results you're looking for.
