    Fret Polishing

I'm a total beginner at any kind of proper maintenance. I bought a Jim Dunlop fingerboard care kit, for my rosewood fretboard. Came with cleaner, conditioner and a cloth. It also hade a micro fine fret polishing cloth. On the back it says 8000. It feels pretty smooth! I polished the frets by...

    NGD American Professional

New arrival! 2017 model in excellent condition. Have an American Standard with a maple board and had a hankering for a rosewood board strat. I love a sunburst strat too. I'd tried a pro in the shop and loved the neck. I thought maybe I wouldn't like the deeper C as I don't get on with chunkier...

    Nitro Touch-up Advice

I think mines is similar - not through to wood but through a tinted layer into a clear coat underneath maybe?

    Nitro Touch-up Advice

Thanks! I know it's not great visually but to the hand - you'd never know there was a repair at all, just as smooth as the rest of the neck, so I think I'll call it quits at that, can totally live with the look of it, especially in that spot. I can't see any defects at all really! Looks great...

    Nitro Touch-up Advice

First attempt at this, so pretty amateur looking. But where it is I think I probably get away with it? Main thing is its nice and smooth and shiny..tried to show that in the light...

    Nitro Touch-up Advice

Agreed, smooth will do me! Think my main worry now is sanding right through it and/or taking of nearby good finish. So gently does it I think! I have 8 grits ranging from 1800 to12000

    Nitro Touch-up Advice

OK, so I've now painted it. Unfortunately, the Amber tint is much darker than my neck. It that might be ok given when it is. I've painted it on as thin as I could. And it's not very smooth so when it's dry I will buff it up smooth and shiny (hopefully!). With it being thin there's not much to...

    Nitro Touch-up Advice

And if I make a mistake, can the nitro be removed with nail polish remover? (Sure i heard this once) But would it also remove the poly?

    Nitro Touch-up Advice

This is the area here...not in a very noticeable place, so I'm not looking for complete perfection but I will try my best! Thanks for all the advice! Does anyone have tips for sanding it down after it's applied and dried? It's quite an awkward bit the way it's shaped here. Kinda worried about...

    Nitro Touch-up Advice

I've got a poly neck and In want to touch up a little area that has some damage. For this I bought 50ml neat nitro - it was the best I could find, amber tinted do I think it'll do a decent enough job (not looking for perfection). I have no experience, but I've always heard that nitro is a...

Accidentaly Removed Tinted Finish From Neck...

Thanks! Problem is I don't think I'm through to bare wood. Even though it looks like it is. Tru oil wouldn't take to a clear poly if thats what it is would it? Maybe if need to take it down to the wood for it to take?

Accidentaly Removed Tinted Finish From Neck...

Yeah its smooth now at least! I don't think I'm through to bare wood so maybe there is a clear coat under the tinted one and that's I'm through to.

Accidentaly Removed Tinted Finish From Neck...

So my guitar had a scrape, no idea what happened - in a strange place. Probably happened at a gig. Anyway it was kinda rough so I just wanted to smooth it out. I took to it with micromesh paper. And I'm an idiot as I've took the tinted finish off. It must have been so so thin at this part...
