I'm a prodigal guitarist. In my teens I was surrounded by musicians and luthiers and great teachers and was too clueless to fully absorb what was on offer.
In college I dropped guitar and didn't play for 32 years.
Just picked it up again two years ago.
My best guitar teacher was a hybrid picker and always trying to get me to use my right hand fingers. I was too impatient to practice that.
So to atone I'm playing only fingersytle since picking up the guitar again.
If I could download two guitarists' skills and vibes, they'd be Gilmour (tone and phrasing) and Knopfler (genius right hand, astonishing versatility).
I'm also kind of a project addict. In addition to the luthier shop where my mom worked I grew up in my dad's auto racing shop. So I love to build stuff. Especially if I don't quite know what I'm doing.
My three biggest projects so far have been:
    1) a DIY tele that turned out very nice once I gave in and put a Warmoth neck on it
    2) a Trinity TC15 amplifier kit. (Basically an AC15 with one channel the classic 'top boost' and the other channel derived from a Matchless version of an older EF86 AC15 preamp). Also very successful. The speaker cabinet works very well but unfortunately is also the heaviest 2x12 in recorded history.
    3) a standalone reverb - harmonic vibrato - high gain preamp thing of my own design, that I never was able to get completely sorted out. So next step is to build a Weber ReVibe kit into the same box.
3a) Updated - the Revibe kit came out wonderfully
4&5) I've done 2 more guitars since then; a strat and a semihollow
