      Those are very tempting.

Just check the FX loop because apparently some of the early ones had noise issues because of shielding issues.

Mine has a low level hum that is less than some amps on idle I have used. Some people had serious issues with them though, so something to check.

I love mine. Decent Fender clean tones, with Marshall like gain. Very touch sensitive. It seems to really like my single coil strat as well as my HB LP style guitar.

Some consider them dark, especially with HB pups. One person's dark is another person's warm I suppose.

If you haven't already, I recommend you play one.

mmm I love fender amps (princeton, deluxe, super reverb,) I am very hesitant to purchase new fender amps because quality control issues that you discribe in you post.
If I ever need an amp again.........I start looking at having a version made up by one of those companies.
Weber......5F2A amp pay to have it hand built. I bet it will cost less than the
      fender version.

      Hey @chemobrain!

Yeah, P2P wiring is preferable to PCBs. If I already knew exactly what circuit I wanted, having one built to my specs would be a great idea.

I found my BB15 used for $550, played it, and loved it so I grabbed it. I does what I want so far. I’m still trying to educate myself on vintage amps and circuits.

I have a quad of 10” CTS alnicos, and have them in a pair of 2x10 cabs. I want to find a vintage head that’s has more tradition Fender cleans, and a bit more headroom to run with them.

The BB15 has the dirt covered, and the cleans are ok, but not quite traditional Fender cleans.

No one really knows how the Bassbreakers will hold up over the long term. I hope mine continues to be trouble free because I really love it. I might be able to find something I like even better, but I haven’t really looked all that much.

I tend to find something I like, and just use it. I do even plug into amps or play guitars that I can’t afford. Hell, the bassbreaker is the first tube amp I ever bought, having used only cheap SS amps previously.

Thats why I never hold myself up as an online expert, becaue I’m definately not. I’m hear to learn as much as I can, and help with basic stuff and present my experiences (limited as they are) with others.

For example, what amps use a 5F2A? I know what a 5e3 is, but that’s about it!

Long ago in middle class suburb with rural leanings I use amps , Fender Tube amp the big boy was a mid sixties blackface Super Reverb that amp was so beautiful sounding and now I live @ at the Hotel Derelict in the bright lights ,big city, does not support loud amps. Hence I use Faux Amps. The Digitech GSP1101 does old tube amps really well.
For the bedroom Mozart it does well at delivering an approximation of old tube amps. at neighbor-friendly volumes.
