Ok. Here's mine. It started life as an sx. I'm actually experimenting with relicing it a bit at the moment, but this is what it looked like a few days ago.

Here's a recent addition - MIJ Esquire Custom. I had the Eldred mod done, and I love it. Played it with the band last Saturday and it sounded great.

The black one has been shown earlier in the thread, right now I'm putting a SD little 59 in it. The blonde one is my latest (and second) partscaster.

Very cool....any noticable difference [in tone] with the body-mounted bridge pup?

Thanks. Unfortunately I can't really say if there's a difference because I never heard this pickup mounted on a plate. On top of that, it's a Bill Lawrence 298tl, which is not a typical sounding tele pup to begin with. It's more p90ish with some twang. And it still twangs. GE Smith thinks mounting directly makes his tele sound fuller. Or at least that's what I remember him saying...

Did you replace the neck or did you rework the headstock? The SX is so well priced that it's tempting to get one just to work on it. And there are some beautiful (looking, at least) bound Douglas Teles that are very tempting.

That's exactly why I bought this one! To experiment and learn a bit. I reworked the headstock, stripped and sanded the neck down to the wood, and refinished it with a few coats of minwax tung oil (which is basically tru oil). Oh, and gave it a desperately needed fret leveling. Keep in mind that it was the old style sx headstock. I don't know if the new 'furion' shape has enough wood. It's actually taken me a while to get used to the neck and it's still not my favorite shape (it's wide, a little chunky, and has a flat fret board). But the guitar has a certain twangy vibrant acoustic tone that I like.

Oh, I should add that I only have very basic tools (dremel, a very questionable hand sander, and a drill) and live in a small NYC apartment. I did most of the work in the kitchen... stripped the neck on the fire escape... and dried the tung oil in the bathroom. in other words, go for it! If I can do it, anyone can. Although it's far from perfect, I came out with something that I'm happy with.

Very nice! What does the extra switch do?

Thanks riolux......it's far and away my favourite axe.
The DPDT switch is a coil-tap.......the single coil pup has an additional 3K turns of wire which is activated on the tap......give me a thick'n crunchy 'boost' when needed.......awesome pick-up!

Cool. I always liked this idea for a tele pup... traditional and hot sounds in one. What kind of pup is it?
