Here’s the story on this guitar. It is a limited edition guitar from Fender – part of the 60th Anniversary 2011 ‘Telebration’ series. Fender produced 12 different ‘special edition’ guitars that year – this is one of them. It was originally to be called “The Indiana Barn Tele” though later renamed officially the “Old Pine Telebration” guitar. Speculation (Fender never said exactly) was that they weren’t able to salvage sufficient wood from that barn in Indiana, and instead sourced other 100-year-old pine for the project.
I am the second owner of this guitar. I bought it from the original owner in 2012. At the time it was my second of these guitars. I bought this one to play and had the other to keep pristine. I sold that other one and put this one into the case where it’s been for the past four years. I’m selling this one now because I’m playing my own builds and a couple of custom-built Teles; there's no market for those, but ol' Fender still sells!
Please look carefully at the pictures I’ve provided, as I’ve tried to very accurately depict the appearance and condition of the guitar. The finish on the guitar was meant to age quickly and naturally, and it is. You can see the wear already showing in the spots I’ve illustrated. If you’re expecting a pristine perfect guitar, this isn’t it; having had one new from the factory I can assure you that even that one didn’t start pristine!
There are THREE things I’d call a true blemishes so please note: 1) on the case, a slight rip in the tolex covering (picture); 2) on the back of the headstock, the nitro had an uneven application resulting in what looks like a smooth gouge in the finish (it doesn't show well in the picture but it is noticeable in person); and 3) part of the 'F' in the Fender waterslide decal on the headstock was rubbed off while changing strings (this model has the decal directly over the finish, with no protection) (picture). I will not accept returns based upon these three details.
I believe the guitar’s MSRP was $1,799 in 2011. Asking $1,529 plus $66 for INSURED shipping on CONUS. Will entertain offers. It's for sale on Reverb.com as well.
