We went to a Sakura Matsuri festival in Queens today at the World's Fair Grounds, unfortunately, it mostly got rained out so we just walked around the grounds and enjoyed what was left of the day.

He's a giant ham, the one with the Japanese lady in the background, there were 5-6 others in front of him taking his picture, he loves to have people pay attention to him.

About the same. Have to go for more surgery in a couple of weeks. Had a fall last week and broke a rib. Just more of the same. I can't play much music right now but I sit in our music room with a guitar in my lap and look at that nice Bluebird of happiness you sent me. It always makes me smile!

People really love him, they have no idea what a giant a-hole he can be. :p

We had dinner last week at an outdoor patio restaurant with some friends. They got to see first hand what it's like going places with him, that thought we were joking about people lining up to take pics of him.

You hang in there James ! I’m pulling for you ! :) Sorry to here about your fall ! I fell two weeks ago but I landed on my butt. I just don’t have any butt left ;) It’s easy to get lost in that one day running into the next thing, but I find this place keeps me fighting for better days. So stick with us my friend :)

I see you’re clipping Yuki on the back. No pulling issues?

    Cheers,
    Geoff

You mentioned in an other thread there’s only about 4000 akitas in Japan. How common in the rest of the world. I saw one in my neighbourhood once. Maybe a year ago? And not since.

Cherry blossom time hasn’t hit here yet. The weather forecast has turned so should be just around the corner. I’m not sure I’ll go as it can get a bit nutty. But it is quite beautiful in its ephemeralness. Which may not be a real word but there ya go. I hadn’t been on the lookout for akitas before but thanks to Yuki if I go I will be now. It definitely draws a large Japanese crowd, which doesn’t make up very much of the population here surprisingly given how multi-culti Toronto is. I think that has changed somewhat in the last decade or two though. Certainly more Japanese food culture. Yeah, ramen everywhere but more high end options too.

A few years back my kid was best friends with Sora, who was only here for two years from Sapporo while his dad studied some advanced brain surgery stuff. When Sora got here he barely spoke a word of English. Was fluent by the time he left. Sadly they didn’t manage to keep in touch. Reminds me I gotta bug him again to try and make contact. Great kid, great family. No dog as far as I know though.

    Cheers,
    Geoff
