There is no dark side of the moon really. Matter of fact it's all dark.... Pink Floyd - Eclipse - Dark Side of the Moon

Dancing With The Moonlit Knight — Genesis

Great song, with lots of complex sections. After the last verse there is a very nice fast instrumental section — and then the last 2 minutes is a very simple repeated 2-chord picking pattern on the 12-string with lots of Hackett and Banks improvisation over it (jump to 5:55 if you don’t have time for the whole thing!).
I love it, but Genesis seem to have been embarrassed by it in later years and the Genesis Archive live version fades it after a few seconds although bootlegs show that they played it all live (including a live fade).

Yep, unfortunately that's one thing the digital age has kind of killed.... There's always a gap between the end of one song and the beginning of another.

The Cars’ “Dangerous Type”. Builds and builds, even as it fades.

Lots of Dire Straits/Mark Knoplfer outros here, indeed.

To add another: Album version of Dylan's "Jokerman."

And another fine Dylan outro, though impossible to find on YouTube, Vevo, etc.: the original, album version of "Dignity." Some blistering Telecastering, there.

I don't really like fade outs much, although doing it live is cool if done well. However, I always did like Duane Allman on Somebody Loan Me a Dime previously mentioned. Since he didn't post a link for it here you go.

My only complaint on that song is how soon it fades out. Definitely leaves you wanting more.

Though not a fade out fan in general, I do love it on Green Onions. It just feels like the MGs could keep jamming on that motif forever.

I was amazed when I read Walter Becker experimented by routing the recorded guitar track to a voice box so he could add the vocal wah effect. He added much texture to the guitar track - it's a favorite of mine. And I'm a huge fan of Steely Dan solo's.

Always curious why purple rain ended with such a long outro...love the song...then it ends...then it keeps going...always wondered what prince was attempting to convey there

Yeah, I always felt that way as well. It could have turned into a reprise of a different song or something else altogether. I always wonder if Hendrix screwed up his riffing shortly after it fades out and they decided to cut it short.

This one popped into my head the other day. I haven't listened to it in years. What's with those awful 80s reverbed drums?! Nice song though and great fade-out guitar solo.
