One if my all time favorite pedals, plus if you're into Star Wars, they have a few SW special editions for a little bit more

Soul food is a great pedal, also check the Tc Mojomojo. If I am not mistaken the morning glory is just a slightly modded Marshall Blues breaker v1. But that is another story.
If you are looking at Tube Screamers, the Boss SD-1 is another budget friendly option.
Just remember that some pedals won't work with your amp/guitar/other gear so don't worry about brand, let your ears guide you. Enjoy the experience of finding a new piece of the puzzle.

I would not describe the TubeScreamer as transparent - the mid bump is what that pedal is all about, really. From what you mentioned, I'd say Soul Food, but really it depends how heavy you need the OD to be. I tend to think that the SF sounds terrible with a higher gain setting.

I have an ep booster I leave on always so Its something just to to push me out for lead lines etc when on the bridge pickup, I think the soul food is good, i don't need a very heavy overdrive but is the tube screamer good at lower gain settings?

Also, islander, is the mojomojo not pretty heavy? I did consider it for a while!

I'd consider up to about £60 which is about $90, I know not much

I'm not sure what you mean by transparent, since the TS9 really isn't that, but you might check out a Zen Drive clone if you run into one nearby, as it's very expressive with held notes transitioning into harmonics, and might work well for your situation.
Very sweet singing sounds with not too much raunchy grind.
My CBC branded clone was under $90 used.

    +1

My friend was the guitarist on the worship team. He used this pedal from the beginning for +10 years? Anyway it shows it can work great, so try it out. He was just plugged into the DI box with the bad monkey on a Les Paul.

But if a ts mini is on at low gain is it not pretty transparent, with then the added mids which will help stand out in the mix?

I've been loving the Caline - Pure Sky pedal. Got it for a great price from Amazon.

Nail hit on the head right there. Without debating the word, transparent, it is not always a desirable thing.
As to the MOJO, like every pedal, to each person will hear it differently, and will use the controls to suit their needs. Some people can't stand settings others love.
To me, at the end of the day, plug it in, play it, play with it and don't even look at the indicators on the knobs. If it works for you, it works for you. An ultimately that's what counts.

It can go from light OD to pretty heavy. It's biggest stand-out to me is the ability to get low-order IMD at "slight break-up" settings.....
