What are your favorite songs that take place in winter, mention winter or just songs you connect with winter and the winter season?

I'm going with "Hazy Shade of Winter" by Simon and Garfunkle.

James Taylor's "Fire and Rain" reminds me of Thanksgiving, so I guess that counts.

The reason I ask is because I was at a Holiday Party last night and after singing caroles I played some singer-songwriter stuff and wanted to play some things that suggested the Holidays without mentioning them directly. The percussionist wanted "Father Christmas" by the Kinks, but that's more directly Christmas.

    What 'cha got?

    Winter by the Stones.
The lyrics have a way of making the listener understand the cold, but being hopeful for the spring as told by some drifter.
Also Mick Jones and Keith interplay pretty well.

"Bringing in a Brand New Year", B.B. King

"Chill Factor" by Merle. Terrific waltz ballad, and a great album by the way.

These are some of my favorite winter songs, even if some of them just sound like winter to me:

    Wintertime Blues by John Hiatt
Down Across the Deleware, Rachel's Song By James McMurtry
Winter, Moonlight Mile (yeah, I know that's not the snow they're talking about) by the Stones
    Wonderland by Big Country
    North Dakota by Lyle Lovett
If We Make It Through December by Merle Haggard
Chime of a City Clock - Nick Drake
    Mandolin Wind - Rod Stewart

Three of my favorites are Fleetwood Mac’s Bare Street, The Amazing Rhythm Ace’s Out Of The Snow, and Ian Tyson’s Four Strong Winds.

    A winter's day
    In a deep and dark
    December
    I am alone
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow
    I am a rock
    I am an island
