You and everyone else from IL. It's the same dynamic as Colorado and Texas  (full disclosure I was born in Stevens Point, WI)

Is is true that people who believe Illinois is a special state rode a "special" bus to school and attended "special" classes?

Mom was born just outside of Du Quoin (Christopher, IL). That's all I have to say 'bout that.

Lousy weather, bad roads, tolls, criminal politicians, high taxes, economic disaster, flat boring land, crime, etc. etc.....

I know, I did my time there.

Two DIFFERENT sandwiches which are very different in flavor. I'd never put Jardiniere on a Cheese steak or cheese on an Italian beef?

I think it’s ok to put Jardinere on a cheesesteak. It would be like an off spring of a Chicago and Philly sandwich. Fusion cuisine can be interesting

And now you want to tie me up and force me to watch you put Ketsup on a Hot Dog and eat it?

I've never been to Illinois but I did buy an SM57 in 1965. That should count for something.
I lived in Florida at the time but moved before the giant snakes reached Tallahassee. Whew...

It isn't often a whole state gets credit for an invention. Was this a SPAF (State Patent Applied For?).:)

Is the actual Shure HQ in Niles or Chicago?

I'll sound like a tourist but I love the live music, food, museums. I love the real ethnic neighborhoods. Milwaukee is a "little" big town. Chicago is an actual big town. We don't really have Dim Sum or good Blues in Milwaukee. We're cheese heads and we just can't have nice things! (Starts weeping).

It's great having Chicago nearby. ORD is a real international airport. MKE is called international only because someone flies a Piper Cub up to Canada once weekly. See! This is why we can't have nice things up here in the woods!

My brother moved to Chicago after college around 1990. I was still in high school and I went with my parents to visit him and help finish up his move. It was in July. It was 101° degrees in Kansas when we left. When we got there a cold front had gone through. We were taking a ferry ride out on Lake Michigan and it was 50° out on the water. All any of us packed was shorts and t-shirts. I thought I was going to freeze to death!

3 or 4 years later we went to visit at Easter and I brought insulated clothing. In April it was 84°....

I never minded visiting but I was always ready to come home.
