Why do chain guitar stores stock crap for tubes?

    Cork sniffing aside...IMHO any tube that is new, and meets manufacturer specs, is a "good tube" for the requirements of guitar amplification!:)

    I have Pittman's amp book - there is a section on tubes in there and I am curious to see his opinion of the various factories and if he has any opinions about sonic differences and/or quality of the same.
