Who is your favorite 3 piece rock band?

I'm talking about rock acts that feature guitar, drums, and bass. There may be a fourth member, a singer, but they're still three-piece bands.

I've always admired how these acts take a particular approach to music, each member literally holding up their entire category of music, and "playing without a net". Arrangements and techniques are adapted to the small combo. Any mistakes in a 3 piece performance are so much more noticeable and I think players with 3 piece experience are on an accelerated track.

Ever play in a 3 piece?
Do you play in one now?
Who is your favorite? (And it can be the Who)

Sorry, dude. They have a pedal steel guitar backing the guitarist. Four pieces even though "three" is in the name of the band.

The Police- such a "full" sound and everybody in that band added to each song-
    incredible live.

If I remember correctly, the Holmes Brothers are a trio. They blew me away when I saw them a few years ago.

Edited to say I just went to Wikipedia and found out two of them died!

    Dayum, they were great!
