Wasn't me. I offered but they wouldn't accept a post dated, out of state, third party check. Don't know why they were so picky.

    Who is buying these things?

Did not know Hoyt Axton wrote Greenback Dollar. Great tune.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Somehow I can picture Hoyt Axton at home drinking Natty Lite jamming through his Dumble ODS, probably with a vintage Lester.

Hoyt also had (owned?) Lowell George's Dumble ODR for a short while after Lowell died.
It may have just been on loan from Lowell's wife Elizabeth while Hoyt's was being built by Mr. Dumble.
I do remember seeing it in a studio with Hoyt in Missoula Montana many moons ago.

Hoyt also wrote The Pusher which was recorded by Steppenwolf and featured in a lil ol' movie from the 60s

I only know Hoyt from Della an the Dealer and a couple of movie appearances.
Is there any recordings of him with a Dumble?

    It's an amp. An amp!
May sound a little better than most things you'd spend 1-2 grand on. Depending on who's playing through it.

Sometimes these things seem surreal. I’d have to wonder if (any guitar player alive) played thru this, then a well made PTP amp, if anyone could repeatedly tell which is which...

The Hoyt Axton amp is one of the oddball Overdrive Specials with printed circuit boards. So even among Dumble amps it's a rarity.

Far be it from me, a mere mortal, to criticize such a divine amplifier that was obviously conjured by a descendant of the Greek gods (please don’t smite me with Zeus’ lightning bolt), but I can only argue that pretty much NONE of my personal guitar heroes were blessed with the honor of playing through a Dumble and they still somehow managed to sound absolutely amazing!

So, needless to say, it wasn’t me who bought it...

You can almost feel that Dumble tone.

    Like a dentists drill.

I have played through that exact amp! Axton loaned it to a fledgling studio near his home in the Bitterroot Valley, along with a bunch of studio equipment. That was the story I got, anyway -- but I was also told that it was Lowell George's amp. So who knows. I couldn't get a sound out of it save my life, too many switches and dials and I didn't know what most of 'em were for.

I would have bought it in a nano second, but living off the grid with our micro-hydro plant, would just allow enough amp time to warm up the tubes. So, I thought I'd pass and let one of my fellow TDPRIers use it more.

Yeah, I'm such a nice guy. Thank me later.
