Get that project rolling and the pickups are on me. Let me know what you want.
Rob, that is so cool!
James...can I offer you make the bridge for this project? I am tooled up to make cold rolled steel Telecaster bridges by hand. Some folks like them in raw cold rolled steel but I can also electroplate it with nickel. Your preference, let me know!
Best place on the internet. By a country mile.
Thanks to everyone for their kind offers! I'll take you up on them, but only when I'm sure I can begin the project. You folks are the absolute best, and I really mean that! I've got more treatment and recovery to go before I can begin, but I will. Thanks to everyone again!
Hey James very sincere wishes for you and family from Ozzie mate! The generosity and concern shown by the people on this site never cease to amaze.
Just finished up this thing for a friend's daughter (who is actually older than me!)
Her favorite color is purple, so I made her a purple guitar! I think she's gonna be pretty pleased with it.
Edit: oops, the close up isn't accurate! Just picture the rest of the pickguard screws, plus some strings.
workbench is outside today, must have overheated a diode on the rectifier. it was shorted and i popped a fuse
I want one!
Stuffed the 1966 Cadillac 429/Velvet Drive combo back in the 1966 Keaton ski boat yesterday. Exhaust manifold gaskets should be here today. Napa auto parts totally kicks butt. In my little town of 750 people they can get parts the same day or next morning most of the time. So grateful they are able to survive during these most dark times for retail stores.
Coming together, wiring and set-up this weekend.
+1 on Napa Genuine Parts.
Putting some reclaimed cherry to use from a local reclaim store. A hair to thin to go it alone after planing the twists out but perfect for a thinline with a maple cap. About 3" shy of wide enough but easy match up. Some fun grain/blemish patterns istead of the typical furniture grade cherry.
I love that cherry by itself
Fully agree. My hope was for it to come out thick enough to use only cherry. Unfortunately it ended up at 1.5" thickness before I got the twist out. The breaks of reclaimed. So on went a curly maple top.
Finished poplar jazz bass copy, it has a black walnut fretboard and is finished with rattlecan nitro. This was the first neck I've ever made.
Did someone say Rebel? Rockin Rebel?
Trying out the laser logo. Still some tweaking with the “step over” needed, so that the individual lines are less visible.
Ooops double post
