Alright!!.. 2018 is here and time to make some sawdust...:D

I didn't build any guitars last year.. just repaired a bunch of acoustics mainly....

Time to get this Bass project going... I was holding out on this until the new year..

I already had a body candidate gathering dust..... so I made a neck pocket template and routed out the pocket this afternoon in 30C heat/humidity with a storm approaching..the sawdust just stuck to my bare skin, it was too hot for a tshrit....

a beautiful press fit and nicely centered at the butt end..sweet....so far, so good...;)

It was so cool to come down to 30 today with some cloud,, didn't ease the humidity though...

Bass might be for me if it sounds ok when it's done.... long scale neck ;)

Yeah that humidity is the killer. My grandson drove down from Emerald yesterday and about 1pm today I got the call that his new (for him) $2000 Mitsubishi H. of C. was parked in a shopping centre lot unable to start. Had to go and jump start the little bugger. Man the heat coming off the bitumen was enough to spit roast a chook! Think I'm getting old or its getting hotter. Looking forward to the next mini Ice Age.

Did you do the neck Trev?

Yes this is made from olive tree root , unfortunately this root was not big enough to give wood for a guitar but is is good for such builds or even a small mallet! ;)

Big day today... did the roundovers.....

the only time I use the big router.... so much more torque than the trimmer I use for most other things....

a serious bit of kit, hold tight with a lot of inboard downward pressure......especially doing the horns...:D

Personally, I’d like to see a bit of binding on the insert... an inlay wouldn’t go amiss too

The only bandsaw standard I see at my bandsaw build is a big clearance insert!!!:D

I'm going for a double trussrod, I like the ease of install, I'm not too fussed about routing a curved trussrod cavity.

Which reminds me... I need to get parts....

    Cheers,

    Albert

Niw I have to make a zero clearance insert so I can cut binding for the insert I have already build...
