I got myself a dragon rasp from SM. I quite like it, and a nice tool deserves a nice handle, so this one is African Blackwood:

You forgot "heavy" :p What kinda antique stores they got over there, anyway, Mete? When would you ever expect to find an ebony board in an antique store? Yeah, maybe some old furniture made (partially) out of ebony. But a whole board? 2 necks worth, plus ?? You should buy an Irish Sweepstakes Ticket today, you're lucky.

And this weekend, the world over, TDPRI will be quiet. Because everyone will be out antique shopping! Best of luck to everyone!

Here is what happened. I went to a shop selling reclaimed oak. A friend's wife wants to have garden furniture in the Restoration Hardware and asked me to build it. I accepted as I always wanted to give something like that a try.

As it happens, we were talking about my choice of woods when it came to guitar building and I mentioned ebony. In a second the guy disappeared and came back with this piece covered in thick dust and before I knew I had my wallet out and Bob became everybody's uncle.

Oh, did I mentioned I paid only 50 Dollars for this.

I assembled this 2017 Gibson M2 with a couple of my newly wound 'buckers and some parts I had around the place. The neck/body was an ebay husk purchase. Now it is a Gibson with good quality upgraded parts, as opposed to the lower budget import parts it would have originally come from the factory with.

I had to make the pickguard for it as they are ridiculously priced by the guitar salvagers.
