The weekend isn't over yet. Started out with beef back ribs yesterday.

Hmmm, yummmm. I put a new tank in my trusted Weber this morning. Got swordfish, a couple of chickens and a nice London Broil marinating as I type. And... the most important ingredients, a stack of hand picked CDs to provide a sound-track for the weekend. I raise a glass to the faithful here at TDPRI...happy Memorial Day!

Nothing fancy: chicken on the grill, jasmine rice and tomatoes.

Love my trusty Weber kettle grill. I'm a charcoal kinda guy,

    Pizza!
My gig tonight pays well, and I get a large, delicious NY style cracker crust pizza.

Slow cooker today while we're at the air show. Unplug it and it'll be cooled to serving temperature by the time we're ready to eat. Tomorrow we'll cook outside on the grill. Burgers, franks, and bratwurst with mustard and ketchup for the family. Peruvian sausage with green sauce for me. I'll make extra sausage but the Peruvian type will be a pretty unfamiliar taste for an aunt and uncle in their 90's. Salads, of course, for one and all. Dogs are invited too. The matriarch will only touch hamburger. The other will eat anything that doesn't try to eat him first.

Back to cooking, and yep I’m using Cowboy charcoal: big nasty burgers today, chicken and chorizo kabobs tomorrow. I already did a bunch of ribs, and we’ve got watermelon and corn.

Fried okra too, first batch off this year’s backyard plants!

Happy Memorial Day to all in the US:)

(Edit to change Cowboy spelling, I could have sworn it was with a K)

I love ribs! Little somewhat unrelated story: my parents just bought a gently used travel trailer, and yesterday I went over to check it out. When we extended the awning, there was a very strong and unmistakable aroma of BBQ(and I don’t mean burgers and dogs). Whoever had it before would cook a lot of meat with pretty fair frequency. Its the first time a sun shade made me hungry.

Since everybody’s firing up their grills, don’t forget that you can take a bunch of jalapeños and chipotle them as an incidental. Just cut the tops and stem off to open them up, indirect heat/smoke for a few hours until they wrinkle and darken. EZPZ, they fit on all the unused places on the grate.
