    Hi guys

Ian Anderson is a great Guitar builder of TELE, ST, LP.

I like his guitar and I love it.

I traded with him a couple of guitars before.

A really good deal was made.

Last month, I sent him payment by wire transfer(He refuse paypal) to buy his guitar.

Ian said "We are ready for shipment this week".

I thought that Ian could send it out soon Than I was relieved.

However, even after one month my guitar has not been shipped yet.

I did rush him “Please ship my guitar ASAP and let me know tracking number ”.

but He still not ship guitar yet

What happens in the case of Ian Anderson Guitars?

I still believe in Ian Anderson 100%, but I am worried that he will not answer and ship.

If you have news about him, please let me know.

Well, I have never heard of this builder, but I just read a post from 2014 on TGP (https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/my-problem-with-ian-anderson-guitars.1474393/) by a guy who says he sent a guitar in to IA for some simple mods that were supposed to take 6 weeks, and it took him over a year to get it back...

Ian contact me today via Facebook.
He said "I had to fix the finish shot more lacquer it's ready to go. I guarantee it goes out this week I will send you tracking info."

I said "I still trust you but I am not your loan bank.I only be your business partner".

    I will report next soon.

I'm not all that familair with guitar builders. There's Nacho but never heard of IA. Does this builder have a website? Company or just an individual guy? How did you here about this builder.

I think he's an individual guy, or maybe occasionally has some help with it. He's been knocking around on The Gear Page for about a decade now - at one point I think he might have been an employee/contractor working for Scott Lentz who went out on his own. He's probably more known for doing set-neck LP-style guitars (actually his guitars look a lot like Gustavsson's style - that LP-meets-Tele shape with the LP appointments). Evidently he has branched out into bolt-neck models while also trying to work through the backlog of set-neck orders.

But he is also well known for missing deadlines. It appears to be a fairly common story with the small builder community - the guy is a builder, not a businessman, who gets some buzz about his builds and gets in way over his head with orders that he can't possibly fulfill within the promised deadlines. Of course part of that is taking deposits from incoming customers and using that money to buy materials and build the guitars from the earlier customers (yes, this becomes somewhat of a Ponzi scheme but presumably there is an eventual product delivery or an eventual return of the deposit for cancelled orders).

I think it's pretty rare that you find the combination of a builder/artist and a businessman who can manage the operation; there are a few out there - Ron Kirn (who of course was a businessman before becoming a builder as a second career) comes to mind - but other times a successful small builder has some kind of operations manager/business adviser helping out behind the scenes to make everything runs smoothly while the builder sticks with the production side of the operation (I'm thinking of Roy F. at Tom Anderson for example).

Yes it's true, some small builders take too many deposits, many are the kind of guys that can't say " no " and try to please everyone....I've been waiting over 3 years for an acoustic guitar....that's been paid for, over 8k, and I have heard nothing in 2 years....I just hope it arrives while I'm still alive....

    Hi
    Thank you perfect commentary!
    Few month ago.
Ian lost about 4 K usd via paypal payment from not verified address buyer(us buyer)
Ian Anderson Standard he ship him.
Buyer maybe said " I didn't receive it and claim it paypal ,refund all from paypal.
Ian can not get back 4k now.
    His balance is so short.
and He request payment to me via wire transfer.
    He refuse paypal payment.
Well I did deal few guitars before with him.
Those were great deals fot me.

    At this deal.
I trust him and send payment for his stocked guitar.
But I guess he sold stocked guitar to other guy and build other same type guitar for me.

    "precarious day‐to‐day management"

Ian still not ship my guitar.
I just hope it arrives .
