I've just been wondering which string gauge people use on their Teles. I've been using D'Addario 9.5-44 for the last 9 months and they've been my preferred gauge ever since. I like the compromise between the ease of playing you get with the 9s and the tone and more stable feeling of 10s.

Does anyone here use anything above 10s for their Tele?

Actually, I use the now discontinued Fender #1550 (11,15,22w,32,40,48) pure nickel jazz wound string set with wound G/3rd.

I use .09-.42 Ernie Ball Super Slinkies. I've tried .10's, Hybrids, but keep going back to .09's. I'm just going to stay there

I have a squire with the 13s on it, wound G, and it is tuned 1/2 step down, otherwise 10s on everything.

I just use the D'Addario 10-46 set on Strats and Teles, 11-48 on my Gretsch.

DR Tite Fit 10's on my Teles and hardtail Strat.

Strats I use DR Lite 'N Heavy hybrid sets. Even though I free float by tremolos and use a tremsetter they're still a bit easier to bend.

Man, 14s? I've never heard of anyone using 14s on a guitar other than to play metal... Actually, I never heard anyone use 14s on a guitar. Period. I'm sure your fingers are very strong as a result!

I've got 10s on one tele and 9s on another tele trying to decide ultimately what I'll stick with. I'm leaning more towards the 10s. I've got 10s on my strat, 10s on my Les Paul and 9s on my Ibanez JS (mainly because I prefer the 9s with the Floyd). I have a feeling I'll ultimately stick with 10s on everything else.

I've used 10s since the 90s but popped a high e recently and put an 11 on there. I may string up a full 11 set and see how they feel.

I use Rotosound Yellows (10-46). I like them better than the D'addario 10's I used before.

I've only swapped the strings on one of my guitars so far (the rest have what they had on them from new - or new to me).

My Hamer XT (Indonesian) had some heavy-duty strings on it. the heaviest gauge were smooth wound and the bottom three, although solid, were also noticeably a lot heavier than the 09 set I replaced them with. My guitar tutor said they were good strings - almost like bass strings - but too heavy for what I need.

10s for me on all my electrics. I order a 10 pack of D'Addario EXL110 sets for $32.95 from Amazon, with free shipping.

9.5 is the best compromise for me.

Ernie Ball, Fender Pure Nickel or D'Addario EXL 10-46 on most of my Teles and Strats.

Only my Squier Classic Vibe gets 9-42 as that's what feels best on that guitar.
