I always thought I was a Fender amp kinda guy because I always go for clean tones. However I've owned a bunch of them over the years and always felt like I was missing the tone I was looking for. Well because of circumstances I ended up with a Bugera V55HD and a Line 6 cab and it's tone is pretty much the voice I've been looking for. Now I know the Bugera is a bargain amp, but I really don't know what amp family it's tone belongs in. So if I was going to go find an amp that is "THE" voice I'm hearing in my Bugera, what would it be?

A buddy of mine says the same thing He has a Bugera and loves the clean, surf-like tones he gets. As far as what style of amp the V55 is molded after I'm not quite sure, but I believe the design is closer to a Marshall than a Fender.

Thanks, it's definitely not voiced like a Fender. But it's no where near as "thick" as the Marshall sound. There's a ton of clean headroom, I've never played a Vox I wonder if the sound is close to those?

What kind of power tubes does the Bugera have?

    From Bugera's description...

"BUGERA captures the stunning sound of the 1960s with the V55, a combo whose modern touches put a wide palette of vintage tones at your fingertips. With a proud pair of 6L6 power valves in the output stage, the V55 bathes your guitar in clean California sunshine."

Sounds like it's based on a 60's Fender?

Here's the info on the preamp:

"Authentic 2-channel preamp design from the '60s featuring 3 x 12AX7 valves—everything from purring blues to mind-blowing crunch..."

It also has a switch to go from triode to pentode operation...don't know if that makes a difference in what we're discussing though.
