The site has been down for over 12 hours. What happened?
I don't know but it just had another mini crash for me a minute ago.
I finally got a screen that said "try Later there was an unforseen datta error " but since i logged on its been acting funky , I hit the post button and log off from the post and it comes up correctly , just dont hit the post button more than once , the moderators will figure it out and yes we got re-spammed!
Highlighting my username and clicking on "my posts" doesn't work.
Seems they still have some fixing to do. I thought they might have shut it down to work on security and preventing the spammers from spamming all the time.
if the server is using raided drives and one crashes it takes the whole system with it ,and I bet they have a massive server
I tried to view a few other forums today to find out what was happening here, Gretsch talk, Strat talk, Squier?
None of them would load.
Search function is still not working at this current time
Would be nice to hear an informative post from the admins.
I think the spammers might be trying to steal all our licks.
Clearly this is the work of 1337 rῢ55↑₳ⁿ h@><0rs.
This seems like a good time for the site administrators to create a thread that explains what happened so that you don't get a dozen new threads asking "what happened?"
But what do I know.
Strat Talk is still down. I was surprised this came up
I was about to enter my money in the give away raffle..Now I'm not too sure I want to do that..
Think I'll just do some peek and watch for a while..
Quick, let me get a post in before site goes down again....
There, I feel better now.
The whole point of almost all RAID systems is to create redundancy for exactly this type of faulire. If a hard drive fails the system can continue on.
Otherwise, if you had a RAID system that failed any time a drive failed you would increase the chances of a system failure by how many drives were in it.....One drive would be safer than multiple drives.....which defeats the whole purpose.
Not only would I suspect they have a RAID system, I owudl also think they would have a duplicate system in place with a failover facility and incremental backups to recover from as required.
To be down for so long seems odd.
