I thought the new trend was to cut back on time spent in the sun? Something to do with global warming, or maybe it was climate change? Global cooling? The ozone layer?
    It was one of those.

Did time exist before time keeping? Is time a different phenomenon from time keeping? Did time keeping create time? It's a bit of a tricky question and depends wholly on how you define 'time' I would think. Certainly events occurred before time keeping and that's essentially, it seems to me, what time keeping is.....the arbitrary units of measurement between events. But then that itself requires a concept that sees events as discreet phenomena rather than a uninterrupted continuous flow.

The neuro-linguistic in me wants to unpack the whole affair this way: time is a word...therefore our idea of it can be nothing but metaphorical, as all words are metaphor.....which ultimately insists then that 'time' is a concept. So, there is a complex process, a natural phenomena at work which we call 'time'....but does that necessarily mean that 'time' actually exists as we conceive it?

We have had it here since the 70s. This last season it came in early October and won't end till Easter, late April.
    It's semi-dark at 8:00 a.m. and still light at 8:30 p.m.
I don't like it as you tend to eat too late and still wake early after 40+ years of working life.

I have worked in the far west of my state where it's going to be dark til 8:30 a.m. Get's on everyone's nerves. I agree, GMT and be done with it. Let people in Iceland , Canada, southern Chile have it if they want it.

Try living with it in a hot summer in Oz. We have had most days way over 30C and oftn 40C ( 100F+) and no rain.Often 6:00 p.m. is the hottest time of day.
You don't feel like eating in a hot, dry climate. You're lucky, you get rain, we've had 4mm. ( less than a 1/4") here Some pats of Australia had a flood, Queensland, the rest is in a dustbowl drought. Seriously, we're getting dust storms over many parts of Oz. First cool day today but no rain to speak of.

When Europe stops going back and forth, later this year, I'm hoping to stay in the "summer time", just for that reason. Others oppose that. Apparently because that would put my corner of Europe in Moscow time, or something.

My sleeping got all loused up with the time change, in fact both of my wife and I were running on low energy through yesterday. Last night we made up for it, and charged the batteries way into the morning. Alex the trusty trooper he's become was only to happy to catch up on his shut eye too!

Thanks for stepping up. I may or may not have been getting in over my head. Call me crazy but I can't get enough of DST. Let's set the clocks up another hour this weekend.
