Your giving me GAS just thinking about it! If I could only do one, rosewood w/ a with white guard because my two strats and tele are all maple boards right now so I need something different. In order of preference
    1 rosewood/white
    2 maple/black
    3 maple/white
    4 rosewood black

With “white blonde”, maple/white, like a 55-57 Tele.
    With “furniture blonde-my term”, like a 59-63 Tele, rosewood/tortoise.

I voted "maple with black guard." Hey, if it's good enough for Scotty Anderson...

I know it’s not a thinline and I’m not sure if you can make the control cavity work but I love the thinline style pickguard~

If not.. (but with brass saddles, unlike the pic)

Mind you I’m a bit bias from slapping an anodized gold pickguard on my surf green tele about a week ago ~

I think a mirror pickguard would look sweet - that said, a white guard would look sharp too...

50s white blonde on ash is my favorite Tele finish and voted maple/white, but rosewood/white is great too IMO. Actually so many neck/PG combinations look good......as evidenced by the posts above.

I have two. A Blonde Strat with Maple and a Blonde Tele with Rosewood. Both have white guards and both are pretty sharp looking. Tough to go wrong either way.

I would go for a (carefully selected) tort pickguard and a rosewood neck.

Rosewood is my favorite board, but I like to have some maple boards on a few guitars.

Fender saw fit to pick this combination back in 1975 when I bought this Transparent Blonde Strat.

It looked right to me then. And still looks "just right" after 42 years! (In this photo, there is a new loaded guard from David Allen installed with his 69 VooDoos.)

I had a mirror guard on it for a while, but decided the white looked more right.
