...was a genius. I mean, from this...

    to this...

and to so many other places. Talk about someone that deserved more recognition!

Whether you're into his music or not, his appearance on David Letterman when both men knew the end was near is something everyone should see.

There's a quote by Anton Chekhov that goes "Don't tell me the moon is shining, show me the glint of light on broken glass." I think Warren puts this forth with his writing. Consider the first line of Carmelita: I hear Mariachi static on my radio
And the tubes they glow in the dark...

BAM, with only 15 words you're there.

    Poetry.

    My favorite:

We used to do a pretty good cover of this. Look at those blonde Boogies and Music Mans!

One of the few popular music geniuses who never made a turkey of an album.

Some are better than others. But there was always a standard of quality, always his unique vision, no compromise.

Glad some of us are still spreading the word.

A truly singular artist, Mr. Z.
He brought a lot of sardonic joy.
    RIP, sir.

+1, yes it is. Letterman was both a fan of the music and the man. I always found his loyalty to Warren to be endearing and enjoyed the different appearances on Letterman. Nice post, thanks.
