I like the way that the "Rat-Caster" Logo follows the curves of the headstock. Nice job! :)

I removed the pos and use the neg as masking.

Dig out the little bits of masking.

Wall-La beautiful hand painted gold leaf looking logo . . . well kinda.

I made the rookie mistake of Not clear coating before unmasking !

So now when I try to clean up the glue residue from the vinyl masking
my acrylic gold leaf looking paint comes off with the goo . . .
    DO OVER ! ! !

Not all that hard to do once you have the text in the font you like.
In photoshop and photoshop elements click on the "text warp" icon!
if you use another program just do a search under help for "text warp"

the selection I chose was 'flag".

Fiddle with the sliders till you get it.

The do over is going nicely.

Dusted it with clear so I can get a nice sharp line.

Now black just in case the color coat is to thin the text will still read.

Color and then 1 light coat of clear.

It has ben raining here so after I spray each coat I put the headstock
under a heat lamp . . . and pay the price for rushing my do-over
some of the color came off with the masking for the rat-caster it is ok.
Clean up the goo from the vinyl masking and I am back on track.

I am still working on this but the other build has a deadline ! ! !
If I win I get to send off the guitar to THIS website tdpri.com !
and I win $100 U.S. dollars to spend as I please!
    Hope you all understand.

The back of the ratcaster has taken a hard turn!
I made the mistake of showing this to some Rat-Rod afficienados
and they gave me h-ll for not having a rat.
So I went OG with Ed "Big Daddy" Roth !

    http://books.google.com/books?id=dG...a=X&oi=book_result&resnum=8&ct=result#PPA8,M1

I wiped most of the paint off with acetone a little sanding to make putting the rat on easy.
mask off and prime with white so I can use thin coats of color and
the white look good when I sand down the rat.

    Spray the green.

    Mask off the green color.

Rain forced me inside so I went to acrylic artist paint.

White proved too much to do by hand so kinda a do-over but not really . .

Masking again! then white again ! and so on . .

On to the Tiapan Tone logo my 1s attempt was making it look like a lumber
company stamp using purple sharpe just did not read well so wiped it off
    and here we go again.
This logo is family sized and lemon scented and has half the calories !

    AH thats much better.

Here is a product that works great for aging

    Clear Flat Primer ! ! !

    http://www.duplicolor.com/products/adhesion.html

After making fake rust or real rust Just spray some Adhesion Promoter
    to finnish it off .

These are the tuners on the dragon esquire from the $100 challenge.
Real rust! I clean them up in a cup of acetone then spray it with Adhesion Promoter.

Dont know if you can tell but, the control plate and the knobs are painted
plastic and aluminum. the pickup and the bridge is real rust Adhesion Promoter helps finish them off by Stopping the rust from eating strings and
what not ! and locking down the paint !

I like how the crackel turned out on the $100 dragon . . . but the only place I
can use it is on the rat so a nice wet coat of this

then a dab of this stuff

just dab it on with a paper towel so we dont leave any brush marks.

and we see the crackel start to happen like magic.
