    I suppose this one sorta counts as a Tele/Paul/Esquire

    This one here is a custom build:

    Honduran Mahogany body and neck
    Australian Lacewood Fretboard
    Hand rubbed Oil finish
    Jon Baxter Humbucker
    3 way switch wired for series/split/parallel

    Pretty light for a solid hog at just under 7 lbs (even with the bigsby)

    An interesting story on this one:
    The headstock logo is from a piece of pine flooring that came out of a renovation of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts house in Vienna. The luthier was over there visiting while this reno was going on and he asked one of the contractors if he could have any kind of wood scraps. The guy came out with a 6 foot plank of original kitchen flooring. Apparently getting it through customs was rather difficult :eek:
    Anyway, now he's using it for logos on his specialty builds.

    Thought that was a cool story to share...

    If you'd installed a bridge pup only, you could have called it a Lesquire!!

    Geddit? L esquire or Les quire - it works both ways.

    All very nice guitars. Some I would just call tele's with humbuckers. The ones with the LP bodies are what I was expecting when I saw Tele-Paul's.

    One solid Bubinga boday with one solid bubinga neck all carved from the same plank. No glued on fretboard. No veneer. Single truss rod installed but really not required.l I have since changed the bridge to a 6 saddle bridge. The compensated 3 saddle got very close but in the end I went for six. Built by me., Build time 3 weeks. No bandsaw, no planer in a wood shed with a dirt floor. Relief .003 inches. That's my first custom built by me. I hope to do one similar but hollow or thinline style. I have one chunk of Bubinga left to carve into a wonderful guitar then perhaps Walnut or something lighter. I am now officially addicted to building "t" style guitars. I doubt I'll ever "buy" another one. Guitars like this cannot be bought.

    Not a custom at all :oops: but I always felt my Squier John 5 Tele has a lot of a Les Paul vibe, with the double binding, 12 fretboard radius, toggle switch on the upper side and double humbuckers.

    I'm going to mod her a bit:
    • Covered humbucker on the neck (I have a bkp Mississippi Queen P90 laying around);
    • Single coil Tele version of this type of bridge, with a hot but true single coil;
    • Maybe replace the knobs with gibson black speed knobs to add to the LP custom look :)

    Mine started out life as a Squire CV '50's VB. I had it swimming pool routed for weight relief as it was boat anchor heavy. I cut the stock bridge plate to fit the space not being taken by the bridge humbucker bezel. Pickups are TTS '59 buckers.
