I have a SG, so I can relate to what you mean on a tonal level. Have you seen a g&l asat deluxe before ?!?! There ALOT like the specs of your Fender ! That's the guitar I based my whole build on !

I'll check it out. That build you did is a thing of beauty. I've done a parts caster but that's not the same thing at all. It's got to be a great feeling to build one yourself that's unique and one of a kind. Great job.

    Dear Sir or Dude!

No need for shame (you know that).

This one is speakin' to me across the internet.

Every choice you made on this one is A+.

The only thing I might want to do differently (just for fun) would be the finish. (not that there is anything wrong with yours).

How about some classic Gibson finishes...SG Cherry Red, Tobacco Sunburst, or a darker mahogany.

    Great work.
On my kind of budget too!!!

    Hahaha, many thanks, bingy! :D

The finish ended up this way because it was low-balled as well. The guy I got the body from had dyed it to make it more blonde looking, like his other Fender guitars, he said. I had some old stains leftover from a project and mixed it together, sort of a cherry/mahogany mix and darkened up the body as well as I could. Also had some Tru-Oil left from a project and applied that as the top coat. I didn't have enough to give it a really deep finish so it is what it is. LOL

I use to have this Humbucker equipped Baker with a set through neck and Tele body.

Thanks for explaining the finish...that's the kind of salvage/recycling story that really gets me excited about this level of building.

I'm with you.. about the materials and the methodology.
My kind of build, for sure.

Got a great deal on probably my best playing guitar. The goldtop version was only produced for one year.
