I guess those with Brent Mason VAs would be given honorary passes here In the spirit of the new forum streamlining, and being owner of one. Welcome to the Valley Arts Mike McGuire and Al Carness era club! Wiki says Mike McGuire has retired in August 2012, and so lets just fall in and talk a bit about VA. Mine was my first 'pro' guitar, step up from a Epiphone Les Paul. I had just learnt from the guy who brought it into the country that it was the very last VA built at the shop, or very least the last McGuire era VA to leave the shop. He had just landed in LA and called in to visit, and was told that they were winding up, as they had the fire to the shop and was stopping business pre-Samick. So this would be 1992 thereabouts. So he went to say hey I just flew in from Singapore and the guys at VA said cool man come over for coffee and a chat. What was left was my Standard Pro 7/8, rosewood neck, Kahler bridge and seemingly, Seymour Duncan set of JBs and 59 with a single coil middle pickup. In Trans Green. So thats all I know. Currently this guitar is in a hybernative state till I find a replacement era-correct Kahler as the original is worn down from my sweat. Great guitar. Post yours and your stories!
