...I love my Bantam and my little Gretsch...both have a single 8"...

...the Bantam isn't as powerful as the other, but has this delightful bark with aTelecaster...

...I've a Victoria Regal that Mark apparently patterned after a Valco design...

I got a hold of an immaculate Supro a few years ago. It has a 15 Jensen and two channels, one marked Bass/Treble and the other with Tremelo is marked Accordian/ Guitar. It has no model designation. I was told it was purchased new in the late 50's. Any one know what model this might be. I guess I can figure out how to post a pic if need be

    Mudcat,
Sounds like the Supro I have. The chassis holding the power tubes and rectifier is on the bottom of the cabinet and the pre-amp tubes mounted in the top. 15-inch Jensen. Sick tremolo.

Great amp. I believe the model number is 1696TN.

Try bridging the channels sometime with a short cable.

Thanks FMA, and I have tried the channel jump. I had a 3 prong installed for safety ( oh it's not original any more) and have played out with it with cudos from other players. I don't think I could trust it to use to much but it sounds so great and yes, what a tremolo! Now I'm wondering if I should try some new tubes( NOS if I could afford it). A tech did replace one power tube when I had the amp checked out but everything else looks original.

    Mudcat,
I also had the power cord changed out. Seemed like a good thing to do.
Not long ago, I took mine to a tech for a going over. He did a cap job on it and cleaned some things up, replacing a few components that may have drifted or to tighten up the bottom. He also retubed and checked and set the bias. It cost about $200, but heck, I paid less than that for the amp some years ago, and now it's a monster. I haven't hesitated gigging it at all. Great amp and once you get it checked out by a tech, completely reliable.

Here's my '64 Valco/Airline 62-9023A. Great little combo with the absolute best Tremelo. Loaded with original Jensen C12R.

Bantam's L50 + metal chasis scared me away a few years ago - sold it. Had a great sound though, pure authentic cranked "Communication Breakdown".

Am still in love with my '56 Oahu since it's face lift and mods.[IMG]

my Supro S6616 Trojan amp. Not sure about the year. Good friend gave it to me for my birthday about 18 years ago. Think he said he paid $125 for it back then.

Here's a little '57 Supro I recently picked up. What a great little amp. It sounds a lot bigger than it is.

Probably 1967 or 1968 - just before Valco went belly up. I got that amp's big brother the Sportsman. I love the look of these things but every time I seem one I keep thinking they should say Amana.
