Love the footprints on the back!
Ended up doing it the hard way. Got a little cleanup around the edges after it drys and then a million coats of clear.
Fixed it. Chrome yellow. Much better than the gold that I had on there.
Lookin good, nice work!
This came right to mind but it was my Dads so not the right image for your build.
From a PT boat he served on in the Navy.
Might not really translate or even be understood, the little painted boats were kills numbering 17.
Maybe I should have skipped it, hope it wasn't offensive to anyone...
My brother was a lifer in the Marine Corps. Once a Marine, always a Marine. My boss is a Marine, BTW. Semper Fi.
Great ideas and good job so far.
I would suggest using a std. M14 rifle sling as a strap. I believe the M14 was issued with two main variations, an OD green cotton-web sling and the 1907 style leather sling (after 1966 or so, they came out with nylon web slings, etc.).
1907 pattern leather slings are commonly available and you might be able to find a custom one with some USMC graphics, etc.
As a military veteran this strikes a strong chord in me, (forgive the weak pun), so I'll be following this thread with great interest and some nostalgia. Not that I was USMC, I served in South Africa against the Cuban communist insurgency appearing in Angola with intent on moving southwards. We stopped them.
Can't decide which I like better. What do you think?
If I do the black one I'll put a bulldog decal on it. Or something.
As Nam Marine I love the Emblem a bit more,
Semper Fi do or Die!
Btw, the front Marine is cut off and is regrettable. But I had to keep the flag in there as the focal point.
Absolutely, positively, no-two-ways about it, Iwo.
I like the white Iwo Jima one... What a magnificent tribute to our Marines. Fender Custom Shop has nothing on this build. Nicely done!
Yeah, the Iwo Jima one for me too. It's a great looking guitar!
I'm a little late to the party, but Iwo for sure.
As. Marine I would bet on Iwo
Very nice work! Great tribute! Great thread!
