Nice wood Nick!
Thanks, here is another piece I air dry for two years, it is from the root of an olive wood, unfortunately too small for guitar building, I gave it to a friend for pen turning.
That is a gorgeous piece of wood Nick . Root wood is indeed beautiful in many species of wood , unfortunately most is too small for much in guitar building outside of rings and knobs .
That is so true Herb.
Truly beautiful wood. I hope your friend makes you a pen with some of it, Nick.
We have Little Black Scorpions( no, Rob, that's not a band) around here, they like to live under things, where the Black Widows also live. The scorpion stings are about like a wasp sting, not pleasant, but not deadly. I used to put them in jars to freak out my wife, but no more. I don't want one in-jarred on my bed!
Time to move on with that build.
I lost a colleague and a very good friend last Wednesday, he was 38 years old and woke up to go to work at 6:00 as usual, his wife found him seating on the sofa....
A flag and some shootings was what the country gave to his wife and parents.
2036 is not only far, it is just that we do not know if it will ever come, we do not decide for tomorrow!
Change the woods on the neck, thin down the outer stripes and add some bloodwood.
Nick, I'm sorry about your friend.
The neck is going to look great!
So sorry for your loss Nick
Saddened to hear you lost a friend.
Very sad to hear Nick. Every day is important.
So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, Nick
Very sad for the surprising loss of your friend - that is a shocking thing that does serve to make us treasure each day.
Sorry about your friend's loss, Nick. You're right--tomorrow is promised to no one. The older you get, you see more and more of it all around you. I don't really wonder or worry about when my time is coming, but the reminders that for all of us, (even me! ) , it IS coming, is something I never even took any notice of. Not so any more. You can only live the best life you can, and treasure the gifts you've been given--like friends here on the forum!
Thanks everyone for the support, I appreciate it!
Bloodwood is glued on the neck! I am planing to use those olive wood pieces as ears on the headstock.
Live edge headstock, nice
Sorry for your loss Nick!
Yeah - don't think I have ever seen that! Is that the plan, to keep the "live edge" as the outer edge of your wings?
