    Druuummmmm Sander!!!!
:)WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL THIS YEARS!!!!:)
There is an 1/3 of a mm, 0.013 of inches of thickness difference from side to side, I believe I can fix that!!! IMG_20160818_133431.jpg IMG_20160818_133848.jpg IMG_20160818_133915.jpg IMG_20160818_134450.jpg

That's very cool! Like Rick said, it works! Means it's good!

Then seeing what you did with it! WOW!! I need one of these!

    Rick,

Maybe it's worth the $10 to get the plans?? There's nothing I hate more then reinventing the wheel!

I really do like the idea of interchangeable drums... from the video it looks doable, but hey, the guy is trying to sell the plans!!

It would be great if I could just buy a drum sander, but that would blow more then a years worth of guitar building budget for me... so it's build one or find someone that lives close by that has one and would let me use it or trade for something to use it.

The idea of having some space between the paper makes perfect sense.. besides when you look at it the way the paper is wound around the drum, the space can "guide" the dust out and away. Sure most likelt it just makes more dust, but I think you know what I'm saying.

Sorry, but the last part about crowned feed belts are beyond me...

    Thanks for the additional info!

Yes, that is a beautiful body shape!

Drum sander, drum sander, drum sander.... dang Nick, now I HAVE to build one!!

Putting the body through the sander lengthwise!! That's totally awesome!

Nick we discussed this before. U live in the wrong country and u should move closer to NYC. See John's comment above. It would also avoid him building a sander if u just mover here! I have sander envy now.

C'mon John make the move and pull the trigger!!!!

Andre the dust collector is a MUST, that thing is a dust hell, I couldn't believe how much dust was there after I pass the body three times under the drum.

Helmut take the chance and cooperate with John to build the ultimate drum sander that humanity ever seen!!!
    You two live close, right?;)

How about if I send you a lollipop??;)

Seriously, thanks for linking to that plan!!

Since Nick said I need a table, I'll build the one in this plan, then Helmut and I will build a drum sander that will be the envy of all drum sanders in the world!!;)

John, no I guess for $10, it's worth a shot. From my experience, I would study very carefully how the table and drum surface are made parallel, or if there's an adjustment. It can be trickier than you think. . . .

I have to feed drum sander gas, so I'll post some pictures of what I did today.
I spend most of the free time I had today,on my drum sander.

I put a more level table, as Nosmo has suggest, on top of the one I have on the drum sander.

The flat white surface is corian, you can't go wrong with corian, it is dead flat like granite and does not expant with heat or moisture.

Prior to that I took another piece of corian and stick on it, with double stick tape. 80grid sandpaper, fire the machine and rise the table, until I had a nice level drum with the table.
No .3mm uneven drum sanding now!:)

Really great stuff, Nick! I've been wanting to build a drum sander for several years now but have never gotten around to it. I really need to do it, though, because it's one of those tools that would get almost as much use as my band saw and router I think. I think that may be my winter project this year.

Found some time to work on the body today!
Since I do not have plans, I have to double check everything so the progress remain slow.
    I made the belly cut.
First time I use the flap disk, but I 'll do it again!!!:D
