True. I had a chance to get a "civilian" quattro, and I still shame myself to be a sissy. Right now I drive a Passat Wagon AWD (American issue) and it's about to be the last VAG for me.

I guess most people thought they were ugly. I love Edsels. ALL Edsels.

I had a TDI jetta that was involved in diesel gate. I didn't care about diesel gate, I cared that the car grenaded 3 high pressure fuel pumps and VW refused to offer the warranty on my car that was offered on the previous year for this exact problem despite having an identical part number. The 2012 tdi was given an extended warranty for the fuel pump, the 2013 wasn't. Mine exploded at 50k miles. I spent 7k to repair it, it grenaded at again 10k miles later, repaired it again and it happened again. I parked it until vw bought that trash heap back for full price prior to the scandal. I was done at that point. I drive a first generation (BMW) mini cooper s now, and I'll probably buy another one. Easy to work on, small and fun and has 180k miles with no signs of stopping. I'm soured on VW for now.

My dad got me one of these when I was 16 for a couple hundred bucks. 1963 Rambler American Station Wagon. It was beat to heck, but I still have a soft spot for old Ramblers - and station wagons.

Also, always wanted a 1961 - 1965 Ford Falcon Ranchero for some strange reason.

I was gonna post the Citroen 2CV, but someone beat me to it. So here's its big sister, the Citroen Ami:

I had a 1961 Hillman Husky that looked very similar. It was my first car.

Yikes! It looks like a Ford Anglia that got beaten with the ugly stick!

The Ami was built on the same platform and mechanicals as the 2CV, it was Citroen's attempt to make something more modern and stylish, and to fill the gap between the 2CV and the ID/DS.

Well, mine was a used 1990-ish 1.3L gas with 201K km on clock. Cheap as ***** to maintain. Basically, your story supports my statement. No modern VAGs for me)

With so many of these I just fail to see the "ugly".

Others I fail to see the "appealing".

Citroens and Saabs deserve respect and are wonderful to drive.

    But they are ugly...just ugly.

About as ugly as I get with cars is the VW Beetle, which is actually very cute - it just has zero room. However I prefer pickup trucks myself. Life is too short for anything ugly...

The AMC Eagles are great looking. They seem like a weird choice for an odd-looking car thread, tho. Eagles and 4door Chevy Citations always struck me as radically average- like if you averaged everything about every car available at the time, you'd get one of those two. I like em both

You've seen the Studebaker Champion and the Avanti, on previous posts, but I don't think anyone posted a Studebaker Lark. They were quite popular in the early 60's and helped keep the Studebaker name alive for a little longer...
