My mom had a 76 model in the Mercury trims. Had a 302 V8 and was pretty quick for a four door grocery getter. But couldn't handle a slow curve without going up on two wheels.

That's not so much ugly as mind-numbingly bland. Anyway, it's certainly not oddly appealing. If I had a time machine, I'd love to go back to the day of that photo shoot and ask Lee Iacocca: "Are you proud of this? In twenty years time, do you think you'll look back and think that green-lighting the Granada was one of the major accomplishments of your career?"

I must nominate the 1989 Ford Escort...my first car. I had a 1984 Ford Ranger previous to this, so still my first "car." Not great, no performance to speak of. And the body shape and low weight made it fun to drive when the wind was blowing.

These were really not that bad of a product. The ugly thing in this picture is the fool standing behind the sedan. Insofar as Bean Counters robbing the goodness out of vehicles, here's America's #1 Culprit. Probably hurt the American Car more than Nader, truth be told.

Not a Combi at all. That's a genuine 2 door body style. It was offered in I think 1985 and 1986 with the 900 front end, in the USA, and it was the platform Saab used to make the OG 900 Convertible that was so good for the Saab balance sheet for a while there.

To my mind those 40`s model 92`s were VERY cute, specially in some other color than that 40`s battleship gray.
I recommend orange or surf green.

I can`t have a clear opinion of it. In some views it looks hideous, in other angles almost cool. At least i don`t hate it in whichever case.

The main thing that's wrong with these Elvis cars is, they're based on Buick midsized coupes or similar. You have all this glitz, but the heart of the vehicle is pedestrian GM affordable commodity car. Elvis COULD have commissioned cars with amazing, handmade chassis and drive trains, impeccable pedigree but these are just low budget conversion-mobiles. The automotive equivalent of a Tofu-Burger.

My grandmother's 59 Chevy was made even uglier. It was the base model, pea green, and she removed the trunk lid so she could insert a square wooden box the width of the trunk, making it into a crude El Camino. She and my grandfather had a gas station, ice house and bait shop on Route 66 in Oklahoma. She hauled live minnows from the minnow farm in the box in water-filled containers.
