I’m not sold on the forearm contour...

    Image1523634933.726511.jpg

It’s not really flowing with the belly cut. It is dead flat. Would probably work really well for this guy -
    Image1523635187.971084.jpg

Not so much for the rest of us.

Lines marked to help me get the taper where I want it.

    To the ROSS we go!

Man, I hope it sounds as awesome as it looks, I can’t wait to see the finish. Looks like the contouring is almost done.

Just about! I need to drill the holes for the wires, sand the whole thing, then I can start with grain filling and finishing and all that

No problem, ask your buddy if he was aware of that.

    Watt's bass is actually a 1956 Fender P-bass, but what's a year or two?

Time for some real fun. I’ve been dreading this part for some reason.

It’s not as terrible as it looks. If I can do it, you can do it.

    That wasn’t so bad!
    Image1524256248.316630.jpg

Now I just gotta figure out the dumb bridge ground.

I guess I could do that after sanding and grain filling. I didn’t buy a smaller diameter long drill bit and don’t want to drive back to the store.

Next step - wood filler, sanding, grain filler. It may never end.

But first - and the only thing my build threads will have in common with preeb’s - a snack break.

Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of updates.

    Excuses:
    1. I eat really slow
    2. Finals week...lots of projects.

Here’s one of my projects - had to design, draw, and build a model of a bench.

Working on blending the round over into the sharper corners around the heel today
    Image1525900320.789658.jpg

You can also see some wood filler that was needed to fix some parts that weren’t exactly perfect

Is this really your first body? It looks great.

A flappy paddle sander wheel on a grinder makes the cuts and roundovers a 4 minute job, but you gotta be careful.

I just rough it in with the grinder and then take a sanding block and orbital palm sander to it, doesn't take long at all

I saw Mike Watt break not one, but two bass strings at the old 9:30 Club in DC. He had to borrow another bass once he was down to two strings.

Rounded over the hard edges of the heel with a file and sandpaper
