Saw a kid playing one in church Sunday.
    Looked just like this

Haven't been able to get my mind off that guitar ever since.
It's not like it's some wild, uncommon, seldom-seen color scheme.
    What is wrong with me?

MIJ Traditional 60s Custom. Double bound looks great.
    Mine is slightly modified.

I have a '94 MIM Strat in Torino Red, RW neck. Put a GFS aged '64 pickguard on it.

Looks pretty similar to the one pictured, color and format. Good combo.

As far as "what's wrong with me", that might be better left to clinical professionals.o_O

    Great look, generally speaking.

Single-ply white on Dakota-esqe reds is even better, IMO. 3-ply white with a wide bevel (i.e. post-nitro guard, but pre-45-degree bevel era) looks great too. Mint is a bit "meh" compared to these other options in the first place, plus nobody does a truly great looking nitro ("mint") guard anyhow.

Some combinations are just such good looks that you can't imagine the combinations ever not existing.

And weren't you told "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's Tele"? Isn't that one of the big 10?

Or was it wife? Whatever, all the same... :D

I think "ass" was in there, as well.

And I'm sure coveting your neighbor's wife's butt will lead to trouble

The mint green pickguards work well with some colors...

The squire mini strats come in Torino red. As a guide to the color.
    Rich looking red. Nice.

Don't give me GAS! I have a $1265 settlement check coming, and I should be responsible with it and put it in savings! I was already "window shopping" at GuitarCenter.com:rolleyes::lol:

    Indeed.

And can look yucky on guitars of other colors.

Mint Green (esp. the gray versions made by Fender, hand picked for best result) looks great in black, white, platinum blonde, sunburst, blue, green, red, orange.

But they look wrong with yellow guitars or frankly, any color with a heavy yellow overtone to it. So, no Mint pickguards on BSB, Yellow Blonde, Vintage White, yellow-green, and basically any shade of yellow.

    ++

What I don't understand is why a Mint pickguard works fine with other shades of white binding. The mismatch of the pickguard to the binding should be a problem but I don't find it is in the real world.
