Tom had a career of making hits, but he also made some great music that was not on the radio. Let me give you a few of my favorites. What are yours?

I was just thinking of starting this thread...
You Tell Me and Louisiana Rain from Damn the Torpedoes.
Heard those two thirty years ago driving from B'ham to Panama City with that being the only cassette tape I had with me. Still not tired to those songs.
Something Big is another great one. Hearing that you can see how the Heartbreakers fit in with Dylan so well.
There's no end to the great music

Many great songs. Here's 3: "It'll All Work Out" ... "it's Good To Be King" ... " You Don't Know How It Feels"

Listening to Straight Into Darkness again reminded me of one of my favorite things about Petty' s songwriting, he could craft fantastic bridges.

My ex grabbed a baseball bat and knocked out my kitchen windows when she was drunk one night. This song always reminded me of her :)

Also, always enjoyed what he chose as the cover song on each of his studio albums...Thunderclap Newman's tune comes to mind, just one example...

Update: A friend posted on my FB page and said that Petty's daughter had posted on her Instagram account that he is, sadly, brain dead. :(

This song, A Woman In Love, only went to #79.... A favorite of mine. Please don't die, Petty.

They played the record of this at a Glastonbury festival, between some big bands. There was a massive buzz. It was perfect.
