Thoughts on Neck Pickup Positioning

    I saw a video somewhere recently where someone compared 22 and 24 fret PRS's. The difference was very obvious. And that was with humbuckers, which have a wider magnetic field that SC's. Strat and tele pickups have a narrower field, so they are less forgiving of position.
    There is a story out there somewhere that details how Joe Satriani shaved the end of his fingerboard so as to push the neck pickup as close as possible to the 24th fret because it just "didn't sound right".

    I like the neck pickup pole pieces "under" the harmonic at what would be the 24th fret.
    I know it mutes the harmonic when the neck pickup is used, but I use the pole prices as visual markers for striking that harmonic.
    Not a great reason, but that's why.
