As far as guitar playing, yes maybe his electric technique is not the best, but it does fit his music, as far as acoustic, I think he is top notch and has influenced many, many singer/songwriter types.

I was going to point out that his acoustic playing is quite good.

Ahmet Ertegun knew talent & immediatley singled Neil out, as the guy, in Buffalo Springfield & that’s saying something! He was also responsible for persuading Crosby, Stills & Nash to add Neil to the lineup, with Young’s input balancing their sugary recipe. Neil’s body of work speaks for itself, whether you like his vocal or guitarist abilities...me, I’m in the LIKE camp

I often think that maybe Neil Young is better than he sounds:confused:

Thank goodness, there is hope for me.

As for Neil Young, what he's done well will be remembered forever. Most will forget the other stuff.

I'm pretty sure if you can listen to Neil, and HIS VOICE doesn't ruin it for you, then Bruce Dern sure isn't gonna do it.

I just heard back from Neil after I notified him that there were people on a guitar forum who think he sings badly. He was understandably hurt and is going to refund everyone's money...

Setting aside The Duke and his body double, girth, and toupee sadly flopping around and somehow surviving blasts from a .44 or .45 Colt, and that scene's terrible lighting and acting...

Yeah, I hear it! That reedy, unblinking hitchhiker's voice on a chilly New Mexico night. Charlie from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" also sounds similar. Then again, they all sound like every pot-addled, pitcher-mooching, still-got-a-few-high-functioning-neurons hippie buddy I've ever known.

So nothing could ruin The Neil for me! Some of his singing and guitar work is beautifully expressive, some of his songs are eternal, he's a great harmonica player, he's unique and enduring, and he's got that cool '59 Lincoln.

Also, unless you're part of or extremely close to a particular marriage, you don't know what has gone on in it. Many marriages that seem great from the outside have serious problems in reality. Not knowing specifics, which are also none of our business, we owe everyone involved the benefit of the doubt, yes?

Wow. Okay, I can now hear Bruce Dern's voice in Neil. Good call.

Now right there is a good logical reason to shoot a TV, I don't care who you are.
