For some reason, I've found this to be true, the final days we have our dog friends before they go into that stage where they are not going to get better, seem the sweetest. There's just something about and old and trusted friend who has been your companion for a long time. Kind of like that old buddy that you can just sit in the company of, and words are passed without being spoken.

Enjoy Daisy, and I know you will, because it's really true about life. It's old dogs and children and watermelon wine.

Glad your dream was special. After reading your post, I will go over to the bookshelf where my Harley Dog rests and ask him to stop by tonight. Hope it works. Even with the two great dogs we have now, I still miss him. He would lay his head on my shoulder at night. Only after I dozed off would he move to the more comfortable spot at the foot of the bed.

Have a Merry Christmas, TD. My baby, Cody, just got over an infected anal gland, so I'm glad he'll be OK for the holidays. He's 10 years old and I hope we'll have him around for several years, because he may the last dog my wife and I will have. (this isn't Cody, but it looks just like him)

We over the years have had some doggie friends that lived to be 16. In fact most of ours lived to be at least 14. I'm sure Daisy was a true pal to be around for so long. As I said before, there's just something about old dogs, or ones you've known all of their lives. They're just special. Little Toto though, was my lifetime dog, I loved all of them, but he was just my dog, and my friend. He was close to me all of his life, and he died right there with me. I'm too old to ever experience something like that again, I'm just lucky that it happened once.

    Cheers Boubou,

Oh I know from the past that we go on, it's just taken longer with Toto than any of the others. He really is still around, I feel him every where.

What a blessing it is in this life to experience the love of a truly great dog. I've been lucky in that regard, and still am now.

The bond between humans and dogs amazes me sometimes. Once they're bonded to us they really seem to see us in our best possible light, better than we actually are much of the time.

Thank you ST, he was a pal among pals! I'm editing this to thank you for recognizing what I've been trying to say. I was very lucky to have had the connection I did with Toto, having held him in my hands as a puppy, watching him grow up, watching him at his peak, then watching him slowly age and finally pass on. It was an experience both rewarding and heartbreaking, but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I've had other dogs, and they've been good friends, but Toto was just something special.
