That old stuff that was recorded at CBC televison is my favourite Lenny. I'm not a huge fan of the later stuff with all the harmonics etc even thought the genius of it is obvious. It got too guitaristic and introspective maybe for me. That early stuff when he was swinging so hard and still doing the complex voice movement just floors me.

I hadn't seen the bit with Chet so emotional while meeting Lenny's daughter. Very touching to see. It brought tears to my eyes actually.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lenny in '81 at music college in Toronto. My teacher was a student of Lenny's. So I got to hang with him in a room with about 15 other guitar students and listen to him play and answer our questions. It's a treasured memory.

    RIP Lenny.

Dang. I have to go to work soon, so I'll have to tear myself away from this. Very good clip.

There are some pretty heartbreaking moments. I took many lessons from Ted Greene (one of the interviewees) and it was sad for me to see and hear him too.
I took a masterclass with Lenny Breau in 78 or 79. I was WAY too inexperienced to fully understand what he was talking about though. Saw LB at Donte's (club in the SFV, North Hollywood on Lankershim) once in probably 1981.

I recommend watching all 7 episodes.

Watched all 7. I now know a whole lot more about Lenny Breau than just the name. some of it was pretty tough - particularly hearing about his struggles with Horese. The guy was really amazing; the grasp of music and then the charting of his own path says to me that he was a genuine musical genius.
