Lets hope they went with a string thru body bridge this time. If they can do it on my new Bullet HS Tele they should be able to do it on the '51.

Think i am the only on on the tdpri who didn't feel it needed a string through or that there was anything wrong with the stock bridge.

No, I also actually like the old stock bridge and still have it on both of mine. Have no problem with top-loaders in general either. In fact the stock bridge is very comfy on my palm, the way the saddles are designed.

You may need to shim the neck back a hair to get a better break angle on the strings, but that's easy. Only real negative IMO is that it's a PITA to change strings... threading them through the back of the bridge, then up through the saddles.

BUT I do think I will grab one of these new ones in VB for the collection :D

They are string-thru btw, according to an ebay seller I asked. I put a call into to my local GC to call/email me when they come in. They had no notification yet, as of yesterday

Not doubting what you heard -

but I would think the Fender site would say string through if that was the case - although Fender's info has bee wrong many times before!

True, he may have been wrong, or lying. However in the new Fender website pics you can see holes in the opening of the saddles that you couldn't see in the old official pics, plus the saddles are different.

Really curious what the necks are like on these. I really liked the feel of the neck on the originals, but I fear that these may come with the same rail thin neck you usually find on Fender's low end overseas offerings.

I checked GC yesterday, they did not have any in stock. They were not sure when they would be getting them on either.

All of my Telecasters (since the 60s) have been strings through body, but I'm looking into picking up a top loader in the next couple of weeks, thanks for you input on that level.
