The new G&L Doheny for Surf?

I love modern surf music Slacktone, Satan's Pilgrim (check out their new album) etc. I'm looking for a dedicated surf guitar. Familiar with Fender Mustangs, Jazzmaster etc...but I just heard about G&L's new Doheny...looks like a cross between a Jaguar and Mosrite? Although G&L doesn't seem to be gearing it toward that genre of music. Anyone own one? Does it surf?

Why not just use a Jazzmaster or a Jaguar?

I think it's a great looking guitar. Neck looks a bit short though, probably the big headstock.

No reason it wouldn't surf. Specs say 25.5 in scale.
    Wiggle bar.

    What else you need?

    Surf is in the fingers.

This is kind of what I think too. I play in a surf band and my main axe is a bigsby tele. Why wouldn't this guitar work? It certainly has the look. Not sure how it sounds though.

Put some Flatwounds on it and see what happens!

Yeah, just looking for options. Hoping someone can share info about the Doheny.

    Maybe not enough twang?

Cool guitar. Too bad it doesn't have single coils.

The first paragraph of your link says it's a surfer. Sup?
Introducing G&L Doheny: the Evolution of the Offset

Inspired by the classic surf sound born in Southern California, the new G&L Doheny™ takes its name from the iconic beach in the heart of Orange County where '60s surf pioneers became legends. Since those halcyon days, both music and surfing have evolved far beyond their roots, and so has the performance of the gear.

Yeah I realize that but thinking it's just marketing. The body style does look surf. But there's no other mention of surf including in the demo.

That video has way too much Leo channeling BS. Lost me in the first minute of blather.

Dave Wronski gets a great tone out of his Jaguars, and his blue and green sparkle Jags look awesome (BTW he's one if not THE best surf players today IMO) but most surf players I see at the Summer Concert Series here in "Surf City" just use Strats with TONS of 'verb.

Don't know but to me it sounds cheap and plasticky.
